Trattoria Murano

Pośród betonowych i szklanych biurowców Warszawy właściciele Trattorii Murano postanowili stworzyć ciepłe przyjazne miejsce nawiązujące do włoskiej kuchni. Stąd powstała ciekawa mieszanka materiałów i  kolorów. Swojski tradycyjny klimat nadaje długa ściana z nietypowo ułożoną cegłą, m.in. we wzór bardziej kojarzony z parkietem czyli chevron.
Klasyczną nowoczesność zapewnia chłodna popielata paleta barw i tapicerka mebli.

Amongst the concrete and glass offices of Warsaw the owners of Trattoria Murano decided to create a nice and friendly meeting place with the Italian flavour. However they did not ignore the contemporary style of the area. Hence the interesting mix of materials and colors you can find in the restaurant interior. The traditional elements are visible in the red bricks wall. They make unusual patterns, for example the chevron or 3D effect.
The dark or light grey colors on the other walls and furniture bring contemporary classic style. I particularly like the modern lighting, including the black Tolomeo lamps of Artemide. They are a great combo of the classic form and modern aluminium material, just like the whole interior.
The wall with the wine storage would be great if made of wood, but this is not the most important thing. The key is the Italian food, especially Zuppe Tre Pomodori.

Inne ciekawie zaaranżowane knajpki opisałam też tutaj i tutaj
Other restaurants I have discovered you can find here and here.

DIY Arbuzowe garden party / Watermelon garden party

Sunny weather invites outside. Outdoor activities during the weekend include a garden party with family, friends and kids. Decorating the table may be a great fun for young and not so young. Especially as it does not require an atritist talent. It allows to play with bright colors. The watermelon theme is good as it looks great with summer flowers and deserts or drinks.

Potrzebujemy: plakatówki w barwach różowej i zielonej, białe serwetki i papier pakowy na ogrodowy obrus, ziemniaki na pieczątki, pędzelek i czarny pisak do zrobienia arbuzowych pestek.

We need: school paints of pink and green, white napkins and white paper for the tablecloth, potatoes as a rubber stamp, paintbrush, black marker to paint the seeds of watermelons.

Pędzelkiem malujemy zielone skórki arbuza, a pisakiem czarne pesteczki.

We cut the potatoes to quarters to make the semicircles. Then we paint the half and stamp on the paper and napkins. After a while we paint the green watermelon rind and black seeds.
W efekcie mamy takie ładne wzory:
At the end we have such nice patterns:
Teraz dekorowanie całego stołu i party można zaczynać.
Now it's time to decorate the table for the party.

Oczywiście arbuz to tylko jeden z motywów. Równie pięknie wyglądają błyszczące złotem i brokatem gwiazdki:

Obviously there are plenty of other motives to choose from. Glitter golden starts look also beautiful:

Oswojone warszawskie bulwary / Public space restoration in Warsaw

Dobry pomysł architektoniczny czyni cuda, zmienia zachowania. Czy ktoś pamięta zarośnięty brzeg Wisły tuż tuż przy pięknej Starówce, betonowe odrapane schody i brzeg zarośnięty szuwarami?
Został jeszcze fragment i miejmy nadzieję, że niedługo i on zniknie:

A good architecture design can make miracles with human bahaviour. Do you remember the crappy bank of the Vistula river in Warsaw? Not far from the Old Town the place was covered by concret and overgrown with rushes. I hope these last part soon will be gone:

The project involved the reconstruction of the paths along the river bank, introduction of greenery, trees, the construction of modern underground ways to connect the space with the crowdy Old Town. Now there is a nice plays for family walks, for sports and even cultural events. During the sunny weekend there are plenty of people in the place, where a few years ago there was almost nobody.
The architects have chosen simple forms and materials, interesting green parts. You can observe the other side of the river from an industrial style platform. It makes a great contrast to the old style houses of the Old Town.

Currently the space is also used to promote ecology. The large number of globes is presented in colorful, funny ways, so kinds have a really good time jumping from one to another.

Foo dogs decor / Dekoracje z foo dogs

Czyli nieustająca zabawa w urządzanie we własnym domu!

I have heard that the eclectic style is not so much a task for the designer, a stylist's challange, but more the vision and passion of the family. I like the definition of the well known designer, Shaila Bridges: "I love mixing old and new, modern and antique, and putting patterns and prints together in unpredictable ways". It means a lifetime fun of decorating the own house.

The chinoiserie inspiration is what I love for some time now. Ginger jars, chinese vases, blue and white pottery is a part of it, together with the foo dogs.  On instagram I see great decorations and interiors with the foo dogs. There are beautiful ideas presented by DIFFMILLER Style&Design.

My foo dogs bought a few months ago bring me a lot of fun with eclectic decorating. A deep blue color of the pottery corresponds with the sofa cover. The golden yellow on the cushions is a nice combo with the freesias in a vase. What is still missing is a nice painting on the wall, but I am still looking for the best choice...

Żelazowa Wola - architektura łączy stare z nowym / architecture combo of history with modern

Every year in May I visit Zelazowa Wola, a place near Warsaw with the manor house of a great composer Chopin. However more than the museum I like the combination of old house with the modern buildings for visitors and tourists surrounded by a large park. In my opinion the architects mixed well the historical building with the infrastructure which responds to the needs of present-day. The modern forms are simple, materials used are basic and natural. Cubic forms of the entrance and the restaurant made of wood and steel enhance the cottage climate of the Chopin’s house. The huge glass walls reflect the greenery of the park.

The park itself is a magnificent place. It is equipped with simple wooden facilities: banks, benches, a concert terrace and a bower. Next to the old style little bridge there is a modern one made with wood which nicely ages every year.
The place is worth visiting right now in May when all lilacs are in full bloom. The wonderful garden is an excellent spot for a romantic date, a friendly talk with friends over coffee, a family excursion or a quiet place with a book with Chopin’s music in the background.
